About Emily

Emily is a licensed clinical psychologist. For the past several years, she has supported individuals, caregivers, and family members with the emotional and mental aspects of living with life-altering diagnoses such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease). After traveling the ALS journey with a close friend, she pivoted her career, focusing her clinical efforts on those impacted by life-altering diseases like ALS. She’s been serving this community for over four years.

Before entering private practice, Emily worked for several years at a nonprofit serving individuals, caregivers, and families living with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). She was also an adjunct professor in the Psychology Department at Hope College in Holland, MI.

Emily completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in behavioral medicine at the Orofacial Pain Center at the University of Kentucky and continued with the clinic as an adjunct faculty member. Emily completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Bureau of Prisons’ Federal Medical Center in Lexington, KY. She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Kentucky in 2009.

When not working with clients, Emily is an avid reader, gardener, and traveler. During warmer weather, Emily spends time on the water with her husband and four teenage children (three sons and a daughter), enjoying their boat. She can often be found volunteering at her children’s schools, attending their various performances, or cheering them on during athletic pursuits.
